Daniel Parisi: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Daniel Parisi
School: Saint Anselm
Position: K/P
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 175

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

I wanted to make the most of every opportunity. I wanted to keep my pads and helmet on as much as possible in order to take every moment in, knowing this was my final collegiate season. I wanted to break school records and differentiate myself from the kickers before me. I accomplished my goals by breaking four school records. I even created a record for most overtime field goals, which was 3.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

My coaches would say that I am coachable, hard working, determined, passionate, reliable and have good character.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

When I study film, I focus on my leg swing and where I make contact on the ball. I also look at the operation from snap to hold to kick and try to see what needs to be improved. I film my technique as much as possible to understand what I do right and what I can improve on. I compare my technique to other professionals to see what works for them and implement their technique into my technique.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

My biggest strength is my mental ability to stay focused and keep my head in the game. We could be losing by 50 and I would treat a kick as if it was a game winner. The ability to keep a level head is the difference between a good kicker and a great kicker.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday you can catch me at the gym at 5:00am working out. While on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, I’ll be kicking on the field if there’s no snow. My workouts are coordinated by my trainer and kicking coach EPiK Fitness.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I bring a hard working, dedicated, passionate mindset to the team. Off the field I enjoy getting involved in my community and helping others. For these reasons, I was nominated for the Fred Mitchel award. This award is given to the best kicker in FCS, D2 or D3 that has a lot of community engagement.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

Ever since I was a little kid I have always been passionate about sports. I always dreamed of becoming a professional soccer player but that changed during my junior year of high school. After changing sports I found my new passion in football. I have always had the burning desire to become a professional athlete and this change was just a small bump in the road. I have worked tirelessly on becoming not only the best kicker, but the best athlete I can be. I will continue to do whatever it takes to make any professional team, all I need is a chance.
