Name: Carlton Brown
School: Belhaven University
Position: DL
Height: 6-1
Weight: 250
Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
The first goal was a team goal to win a championship and advance to the postseason. Some personal goals set and achieved were to lead the conference in TFL’s and Sacks. The goal that drove me this season was to once again become an All-American.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
They’d say that I’m dependable, a playmaker, and a finisher. Not someone to give up because it got hard, but to instead put my head down and get the job done. I’m a guy that can fit in with any crowd and I can be the center of attention just as much as I can be a ghost in the room. I can be a leader and I can be led. I can and will do whatever the team needs me to do to win.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
I like to watch the stance of the offensive lineman. I like to see if I can determine what type of play they’re running or what kind of block I can expect from them based on what they’re doing. I like to see how they work one on one and how they are helping each other.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I feel like what separates me most is my versatility. I’m just as likely to make a play on the interior line as I am out on the edge. I’m a guy that you can put anywhere and everywhere and count on him to make a play. This includes on special teams, I pride myself on my ability to block kicks.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
I am blessed to be friends with a few professional lifters so I plan to spend some time with them at the gym. I’ve got a few more goals I’m looking to reach in the weight category. Along with that a couple of my teammates who play on the other side of the line are also preparing for their professional careers so that gives me the ability to get necessary field work in.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I feel one of my strengths is my social abilities. Like I mentioned earlier I can be the center of attention, the leader of the room while also being able to sit back and be a support character. No matter the role, I’m a guy to count on.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
To my core, I’m a football player. I’m most comfortable when I’m on the field making plays. Belhaven took a chance on me coming out of high school and I promised them that they would not regret it. Now, I double down on my promise to anyone who’s willing to give me the chance to play at the next level they will not regret it!
