Byron Glass: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Byron Glass
School: Austin Peay
Position: C/OG
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 295

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

I accomplished my goal of grading out above 80% every game and making the all conference team.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

They would say I’m a player with a very strong work ethic who does things the right way on and off the field. I never get bored with working on the basic fundamentals of playing offensive line which allows me to play at a high level and work towards perfecting my craft.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

When watching film of myself I look at things like my first step, hand placement, pad level, and how I keep my technique throughout the whole play. When studying opponents I like to look for tendencies like what their go to pass rush move is and how they play the run. Figuring out if the linebackers are quick fillers and run down hill or if they slow play it and try to avoid blocks helps a lot. Also as a center, it’s important for me to study the alignment of the safeties and linebackers. This helps me know if a blitz is coming so if the safeties are not in their usual alignment something is up and I need to be alert for blitz.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

My athletic ability and technique.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I am training at Prime Athlete development in Kennesaw, GA.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I always do the right things off the field. I have a very strong work ethic, Intelligence of the game, and I’m also very athletic so I can get out and pull, reach defenders on plays like outside zone, and get up to the second level which I feel like some players just cant do.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

You will get a player who will do whatever it takes to better the team and make the roster. Will never have to worry about off the field issues.
