Anthony Washington Jr: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Anthony T. Washington Jr
School: Southern Arkansas
Position: DE
Height: 6’0″
Weight: 245

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

Heading into my Sr season I focused more on being a technique guy and less of a power guy. I feel as I accomplished that goal while also still being able to be dominant.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

Anthony is a guy that has a hot motor, and finds away to win. I’m not the fastest nor strongest, but I play hard, fast, and never quit.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

Mainly on the tackles and whether he gives away run and pass and if he’s fast or just strong. And of course what did the guy before me do to win.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

Most guys at DE are just long and fast. I’m shorter, strong, and know how to win against bigger guys. I’ve played against bigger opponents all my life and have been dominant against them. I can also play linebacker and 3 Tech.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I’ve been focusing on getting stronger and working on my linebacker skills that way I will be able to play at least two positions.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

On the field I play with a ton of emotions and can get a team to rally around me when they can’t find it in them to keep fighting. Off the field I carry myself well, stay out of trouble, besides who doesn’t love Cowboys!

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

I’m not the fastest, strongest, nor tallest, but you can’t coach a hot motor and effort. I find a way to win! I can play 3 tech on passing downs, strong or weak D End, and also OLB.
