Aaron Olson: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Aaron Olson
School: St. Scholastica
Position: WR
Height: 6’4″
Weight: 213

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

My goals were to break all the receiver records at St. Scholastica. I ended up breaking all of them. I ended up with 2374 rec. yards, 40 career rec. touchdowns and 130 career receptions, in 28 games.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

A very good athlete that plays unselfish team football. He leads by example on and off the field. Listens and learns in the film room to get himself better. Very strong, big hands, great vertical, and can catch anything thrown his way.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

When I watch film, I first look at my footwork and critique it and try to fix it on the practice field. I also watch my route running and my blocking. I look at what I did wrong and fix it that day when I can. I also look at if I could have caught a ball differently or got past a defender differently. I focus on things like that to better my game, because I can’t have any weaknesses on the field.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

I am a big strong receiver who blocks well and can go up high and get the ball. Very dependable hands and have a wide catch range. I have quick hands and feet and top speed.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I train with Andre Sherill who won two national championships with UMD. He helps me with my explosion, speed, and technique. We train everyday for about 2 hours. I lift twice a day, 3 times out of the week to make sure I’m in the best shape I can be in. I also watch a lot of professional wide receivers and what they do, so I can learn from them. I watch Mike Evans a lot because he is a big strong WR like me.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I will bring a hardworking mentality. I work hard on and off the field to better myself and the team, whether that means in the weight room, film room, or the practice field. I also would bring a winning mentality to the team. I hate losing more than anything, so I will do anything to get the team where it needs to be.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

I’ve had a dream since I was a little kid to play in the pros and I’m never going to give up on it. I truly love the game and work every single day to better myself as a football player and as a man. If you gave me a chance, I won’t let you down. I will give it my all for your team and organization.
